This listing is for the mini strand of 14 AAA Oregon Sunstone Faceted Nugget Focal Beads that you see in the photos. This is the most exquisite Sunstone we have ever seen; it is truly sublime. Most of us are familiar with the more common variety of sunstone which is more opaque and deeper colored with glittery sparks, but this is exceptional stuff here. In Oregon Sunstone the color is more delicate and transparent and though there are still some subtle glitter effects (caused by reflections from hematite or geothite platelets) stones have more of an iridescent coppery sheen or "schiller" in common with other members of the feldspar family (labradorite and moonstone).
In these larger nuggets there are more inclusions, but the inclusions and stronger colors make these exceptionally dramatic pieces of natural art. Each stone is beautiful in its own way. Many of the nuggets have intense schiller and an occasional stone may be pleochroic. Two of the beads are loose, but if they were strung consecutively the strand would measure about 5.25 inches. The stones in this mini strand range in size from about 7-14.4mm wide by 9.2-14.6mm long. Some of the beads are drilled across the width and some are drilled across the length (we are defining length to be the biggest/longest dimension of the bead, not by the direction that they are drilled). This approximately 5.25" strand has 14 beads weighing about 76.5 net carats.
